Best Infrared Heater
For the last 5 full winters I have saved on average 35% OFF of my heating bills by using Infrared Heaters for Zone Heating my home instead of my central gas furnace.

In fact even during a super cold winter like we had in Atlanta’s 2013 winter I only used my central heating system once. That was the morning I woke up to a 5+ deg. F. Temperature outdoors and I only ran
Winter in Atlanta 2013
it for about 30 min. All the rest of the winter I only used my portable electric infrared heaters to heat three large areas in my home. Two of which have 12 ft. Vaulted Ceilings.

With more and more government regulations we can expect to see the cost of heating our homes skyrocket!

Basic Requirements to Achieve the Best Results with an Infrared Heater!

If your home is reasonably well insulated and free from drafts a top quality 1500 Watt Infrared Heater (Like the ones Recommended Below) will heat a space (or connected spaces) up to 1000 sq. feet to a comfortable temperature.  Most people consider somewhere between 68 and 78 degrees F. as a “comfortable temperature.”

Important Tip: Take a few minutes and read the Owner’s Guide that is included with your new Infrared Heater to get the best performance.

There are several factors that can effect the performance of any heater.  Factors such as ceiling height.  If your ceiling height is 10 feet that is 25% more volume than the same size room with an 8 foot ceiling and will require that much more heat.

Your house’s exposure to the sun and wind makes a difference.  Do your windows have curtains or blinds?  Even dual-pain windows offer little insulation from the cold outdoors.  Curtains or blinds create dead air space between the glass which helps a lot.  All these factors affect heater performance.

I have found that as long as the outdoor temperature stays at or above 38 degrees F. my Infrared Heaters will cycle on and off periodically, easily maintaining the temperature setting.   When the outdoor temperature drops below 38 deg. they begin to cycle on/off more frequently until they reach the point of running continually to keep up.  Only on the somewhat-rare occasions when the temperature drops into the 20’s do I find it necessary to use my central furnace (which I set 3 to 5 deg. below infrared heaters) to kick on to make up the difference.
CLEAN THE FILTER ONCE A MONTH
Important Tip: For best performance from any Infrared Heater:  CLEAN THE FILTER ONCE A MONTH!  Simply go over the filter with your vacuum cleaner.

My Personal Experience Using Infrared Heaters!

After 5 full years of researching plus my own personal experience using Infrared Heaters I have concluded that some are little more than fancy resistance space heaters – cheaply built products that won’t produce the wonderful Infrared Heat I have grown to love and wouldn’t want to do without.
Sunshine in your Home
Infrared heat is like having the soothing warmth of the Sun inside your home!

Originally, my goal was to save money on my heating bill which is a very nice benefit but that has become secondary to my improved environment.

How Infrared Heaters Work!

I don’t remember all the science behind Infrared Heat I studied in 10th grade.  I do recall that it is the result of harmless thermal radiation like we experience from the sun.

I know from my own experience that Infrared Heat is a soft moist heat. It doesn’t dry out the materials in your home or your sinuses like a typical resistance space heater, or a central heating system.

Important Tip: Since infrared heaters do not deplete the moisture in the room like gas or electric resistance heaters Humidifiers are usually not necessary.

Infrared heaters heat the room evenly from floor to ceiling, wall to wall. You will find very little temperature variation in a room that is heated by an Infrared Heater.

4 Best Infrared Heater RECOMMENDATIONS!

The word “BEST” means different things to each of us – for example: The Best Looking, Best Value, Best Built, Best Quality, etc.  As the word applies to Infrared Heaters all of those attributes are important in my opinion.

Criteria on which I have based my Recommendations:

Personal Experience – There is no substitute for personally using a product to determine which is best.

Manufacture’s Reputation – It’s important that the manufacture be well established in the infrared heater industry with a solid track record.

Build Quality – Appearance is important but the real determining factor of the best products is what’s inside.  I only recommend infrared heaters with top-grade components designed to last.

Features – The features I look for are a quality made cabinet, casters, at least two heat settings, and wireless remote control.  After a couple months of use you probably won’t ever use any features beyond these.

Performance – I will not recommend a product unless I am fully persuaded it will perform as claimed.

Customer Reviews – I place a lot of value on customer feedback but it does not necessarily reveal value or quality of a product.

Warranty – The best test of all is the test of time! If a manufacture does not have enough confidence in their product to offer a Warranty with their infrared heater why should I have any confidence in their product?

Value – To me, value is the sum total of all qualities including price.  There are several infrared heaters available other than the ones recommended below that do meet most of my criteria but are priced too high to be of good value in my opinion.

Dr. Infrared Heater Dr968 Portable Space Heater, 1500 Watts

Dr. Infrared Heater dr968

Dr. Heater is an American company with a solid reputation for offering quality infrared heaters.

Of all the Infrared Heaters I have reviewed the DrInfrared Heater offers the best overall value! Here are a few reasons why:

I personally own one and it has performed perfectly for two winters.

The manufacturer claims it delivers 60% more heat than other 1500-watt heaters (I have not personally verified this yet.) It does heat up the large space I bought it for very quickly.

I like the Push Button Controls on the panel.  It does come with a Wireless Remote Control.

It is backed with a 3 Year Warranty and is very reasonably priced when available (many suppliers run out of inventory because of demand.)

This may be the Best Infrared Heater for the money! It has certainly achieved one of the highest Customer Review Rating for the last 4 years.

My Sister and Brother-in-law purchased their Dr. Infrared Heater at the same time as I bought mine and they have been very pleased with it.

Lifesmart Corp Lifelux Series Ultimate 8 Element Extra Large Room Infrared Heater W/ Air Ionizer System
Lifesmart Ultimate 8 Element 1800
If you have a larger area to heat than 1000 sq. ft. the more powerful Lifesmart Ultimate 8 Element 1800 Square Foot Infrared Heater W/ Air Ionizer.

It was introduced in 2014 and has racked up excellent customer review ratings.

The Lifesmart Ultimate 8 Element 1800 is equipped with an Air Ionizer System to improve the air quality while it heats your home.

The Ultimate 8 is LifesLux’s top-of-the-line and most powerful infrared heater.

The heat output of this quality infrared heater is Amazing!

It is rated at 5,500 btu’s which is 300 to 500 btu’s higher than other 1500 Watt infrared heaters.  You can plug this heater into any 110v circuit but I recommend that it has a 15 amp breaker, otherwise you could find it trips the breaker at peak output.

The Air Ionizer is a nice feature to have but you will notice a significant improvement in the air quality with any one of these fine infrared heaters!

I have remained impressed with this Infrared Heater since it was introduced. The vast majority of customers who have purchased one are also according to the customer reviews!

If you’re sick and tired of High Heating Bills the Lifesmart Ultimate 8 will let you Take Your Savings to the Bank!
